Tenuta di Castellaro on Lipari tells a story of passion and terroir among the heroic vineyards of the Aeolian Islands. From its indigenous wines: Malvasia delle Lipari, Corinto, and Nero Ossidiana, to its bioenergetic winery and on to the Wine Resort.
As often happens in the world of wine, the story of Tenuta di Castellaro on Lipari— the largest of the Aeolian Islands, north of the Sicilian coast— is also one of passion. In certain places, a kind of magic can be born that goes beyond a business venture, with full awareness of the challenge involved and of the long wait required before finally tasting, in the glass, the wine once dreamed of. Massimo Lentsch, a native of Bergamo and owner of the winery, recalls arriving almost by chance on the Piana di Castellaro twenty years ago and being captivated by the rugged volcanic landscape and by the vines planted according to the ancient alberello training system, used to withstand the salty sea winds.
