In Lipari, in 2005, the Lentsch family from Bergamo was completely seduced by the island and its particular agricultural area. A dormant volcano that rises just over six hundred meters into the sea, rising at least a thousand meters into the sea. We are on Lipari, an island that has undergone continuous morphological changes throughout its history, until its last eruption in the thirteenth century. A place chosen for millennia by all peoples for its agricultural vocation. Beyond history and science, Lipari is an extremely contagious expression of scenic beauty, fused with profound traditions and an overflowing identity. In short, a place that cannot remain indifferent and that can truly captivate. This is what happened to Massimo Lentsch and his family twenty years ago, developing a desire and an iron will to nurture that beauty, uniqueness, and identity.
The Vision
“Ours,” says Massimo Lentsch, “is a winemaking project that promotes an entire terroir, seeking the perfect synthesis between land, vineyards, and people. The winemaker of the future doesn’t see the vineyard as a limited space detached from its context, but as a small part of a highly complex system, whose history must be understood and every interaction respected, in order to cultivate every detail with the passion and attention of a craftsman.” And so, for the wines, we don’t seek models; all our energies are directed toward achieving the most distinctive expression of the places, a palette of soils born from different eruptions.
